Carla opened the door; her heart beating fast, unsure what she going to be faced with when she entered the great hall.
The soldiers turned, looking their new victims up and down with pleasure hoping to harm them as much as they could when Zantha gave them the order to do so.
Alison continued to stare at her mother; she could not believe what she was seeing, until Lidah turned around, almost knocking a soldier out of her way as she smiled.
“Josiah,” she sighed happily. “I knew you would return.”
Amir smiled, he was keen to see his cousin, but had to do a double take. He had not seen his cousin since they were children, and there he was, a grown man, who still had that look of solidarity in his eyes. Matthew was unsure what to think, as he was not able to share his happiness around like the others, and like Zantha, stared on with un-sureness.
“Well, well, well. A happy family I see before me. A dear cousin I have not seen for such a long time, a brother I wish was not so, and a future queen? How rejoiced I am feeling on this sickening time of my life,” Zantha sneered, as she continued to stare at Josiah with contempt.
Josiah did not speak, merely looking towards Matthew and bowing. Matthew bowed down too, not satisfied that this gesture was going to be taken well, especially as he had been kissing his wife at every opportunity in this palace. However, Josiah smiled and nodded.
“I know you will take care of Carla,” Josiah stated as he looked at Matthew with hope.
Matthew nodded firmly and half smiled.
“I am afraid Carla is unable to do the deed of which I am asking, so you will now take my spirit.”
Matthew looked uneasy. He had no idea what he meant, and before he could protest, the spirit of Josiah came floating towards the warrior like smoke from a kettle. Matthew felt strange. He felt another around him, as though protecting him. He smiled and looked at Amir, before watching Carla drop to the ground.
“Mum?” Alison cried as she ran towards her mum, but Lidah smiled gently.
“She is in shock my child,” Lidah stated kindly, as she crouched down to Carla, attempting to rouse her.
Zantha rolled her eyes. It was getting too annoying for the queen who just wanted to end her brother’s life.
Amir felt like a lion. He could not wait any longer as he nodded quickly to Josiah who nodded back, and walked towards Zantha, a stance in her body telling them, that she was not going to die without a fight, as she gripped her rapier and held it with hope of maiming anyone who neared her.
Lidah and Alison pulled Carla away from the area, and stood by the chairs. They were no use to Amir without their magic. Frazer stared unsure what to do, as he looked on wondering what else was to come.
The soldiers were ready to protect their queen, however, Zantha shook her head she did not want them assisting, she wanted to do this with her own brawn, and told them to leave, and to continue the conflict outside.
The necklace continued to dance around in its stones. Josiah...
