We, Humans are amazing creatures with outstanding ability to dream. Bringing life into that dream is an art which requires a unique tool. For me, the tool for adding life to my imaginations is Software Skills. It is the most comfortable medium I could find in the course of my life to portray my imaginations to the canvas of reality. I always felt that the Software skill is the magic wand from fairy tales that could create wonders from imagination.
I Arun Scaria, an undergraduate in Computer Science, from a village in Kerala, India. My story of affection to work with computer and software started from my childhood. The complexities and the wonders inside a computer box attracted me towards it. There is a specific reason to say so. When I kid, I participated in a drawing competition sponsored by a detergent company to do a painting on life ambition. The magic of computer that deceived my thoughts was too strong, so that I couldn’t imagine myself working with something else. I painted a young guy(myself) with blue shirt sitting in front of a computer and thinking sophisticated ideas. My drawing skills weren't strong enough to win that competition, But the moment I realized how much I wanted to be creative with a computer skills.
This ever wanted feeling of exploring new option on computer made me sure that I should go for specialization on computer programming at higher education. That decision opened me the window for more advanced level of programming and more option in computer. I joined Model Engineering College(MEC) for exploring more on the magic inside computer.
My under graduation years was my period of renaissance. I was getting exposed to more open source philosophies and linux world, as I describe the world with lot challenges and endless fun in programming. The main source of inspiration was my seniors, who guided me through open source software development and the team work behind bringing life into the dreams and ideas. The freshman and sophomore years were more about experimenting and getting more into the learning of software skills and engaging myself with software security competitions and tech competitions. In junior year my HOD and professor Mrs. Priya arranged a real life project for me. The project was for Indian army software division, to create an android based mobile solution for managing their training and analytical activities during firing training programs. The 3 month project on android 1.6 was eye opener to the world of customer based software development. I had the lessons of time management as I was dealing with both academics and project at same time. But I could deliver a fully functional product at the end of the project. The main learning from project was challenges in developing an app in a low end android v1.6 machine with high level of analytical and graphical processing without loosing usability from users perspective.
