“Transformational leadership is a newer leadership approach which creates valuable and positive change in their followers. Transformational leadership enhances motivation, morale, and performance as well as stimulates and inspires followers to achieve extraordinary outcomes and in the process develop their own leadership capacity. Transformational leaders also focus on “transforming” others to help each other, to look out for each other, to be encouraging and harmonious, and to look out for the organization as a whole.” (Bass, 2006)
This training is being conducted in response to globalization and the effect it is having on unions. With a global economy upon us as well as educationally advanced corporate managers and leaders controlling corporations destiny; the time has come for union leadership and members to move into the future by “transforming,” so they can to control their destiny. This new transformation must develop highly motivated innovative leaders with critical thinking skills.
However, in order for this transformation to work union leadership must relinquish their “Laissez-faire status quo” practices. These union leaders must then take the initiative to develop and work towards becoming innovative educationally advanced leaders, thus equalizing the playing field with that of the opposing corporate world. The way to do this is through a transformational leadership approach. To begin this transformation process,
“Will union members interested in leadership learn the full-range leadership qualities Transformational Leaders possess by taking a “Transformational Leadership” course or do they already know?”
Now in order to find the answer to this question, union leadership candidates will need to be found in order to participate. Next a “Transformational leadership” course will have to be developed; then implemented in order to test my hypothesis which states,
“A ‘Transformational Leadership’ course will enable union members interested in leadership to realize the full-range leadership qualities Transformational Leaders possess and those they don’t.”
Next I will have to decide which research method I will use in order to prove my hypothesis in order to finally answer my question.
The method I have chosen is the “Survey Method,” a methodology with quantitative results. I chose this method after carefully analyzing others and found it would fit my immediate needs for this project. This approach tends to be more objective, is used in a real world sitting (which allows me more breadth of information) and can be done in-person as well as over the internet. If properly executed, it will promote a valid and reliable research project.
In this research approximately four surveys (test) will be used. The first survey would to be used to determine the interest level of members towards leadership positions now or in the future. Next I...
