Why Good Things Happen To Bad People

729 words - 3 pages

Following a party for Super Bowl XXXIV in downtown Atlanta on January 31, 2000, a violent fight broke out between Ray Lewis and his friends and another group of people. Ray Lewis is famous in the world of sports for his punishing hits and brutal defense on the football field. The future Hall-of-Famer has racked up two Super Bowl rings, a Super Bowl MVP title, and has made thirteen Pro-Bowl appearances. During the fight, Lewis’ friends killed one of the people in the fight. Lewis, although directly tied to the murder, was never found guilty due to the fact he testified against his friends. There was evidence he was at the scene of the crime, but was still only found guilty of obstructing justice. God realizes the temptation of sinning and addresses the consequences of sinning in the book of Matthew. “Whenever we are tempted to try the other road, we should remember that the other road is a dead end.” –Matthew 7:13. Matthew writes that we should realize that sinning will get us nowhere, because in the end what matters is devotion to God.
I am a devout Christian and devote myself to God. When approaching this question about good things happening to bad people from the religious standpoint I find...
